Microsoft deprecation policy
Microsoft Foundry models move through Preview, GA, optional Legacy, Deprecated (existing customers only) and Retired stages; standard GA models get a retirement date set 18 months from launch (12 months for Anthropic, DeepSeek, Fireworks and Mistral AI models), become Deprecated at 12 months, and once retired all inference requests return 410 Gone. Subscription owners with active deployments get at least 60 days notice before a GA retirement and at least 30 days for preview models, which are force-upgraded or retired; Standard deployments can auto-upgrade to the named replacement, Provisioned deployments are not auto-upgraded, and retirement dates cannot be extended.
