Google deprecation policy
Google defines a deprecation as the announcement that a model is no longer supported and will be shut down in the near future; once a model is shut down it is completely turned off and the endpoint is no longer available. Deprecations are announced on the Gemini API release notes page and the announced earliest shutdown dates are tracked on the deprecations page, with already-shutdown models shown in gray. The models page states preview models are deprecated with at least 2 weeks notice, and breaking changes behind a latest alias get a 2-week email notice.
