anticipated video generation model is now available I'm going to pay for the cheapest option to get started with Gen 3 Alpha which right now is $15 a month which gets you 62 seconds of gen 3 Alpha Generations every month I've never used this before this isn't a PID promotion or anything I'm going to be walking through as if I was a firsttime user on their platform and we're going to see by the end of the video if we think that 15 bucks was well spent I'm going to get started here I'm going to click the monthly option here we see that works out to 625 credits a month which sort of works out to that 62 seconds or 63 seconds I just paid and the first thing that popped up was that I do have over a th000 credits here so that might be because you get some initial credits when you first sign up that's a nice sort of bonus that I wasn't expecting there and then we have this prompt window one of the ideas I wanted to try with this is to see if it could generate a neat YouTube intro but before I get into the prompts I just want to go over to the gallery and show you some of the examples of what this can output this is just to give you an idea of what the model can generate and these are all relatively short prompts you can hover over the videos to see what the prompts are and in this I'm just going to use this as a little bit of inspiration so one of the thoughts that I had is I wanted to try and make a cool YouTube intro let's say I want a camera that quickly spans from space and zooms into Earth towards the back of a programmer within a data center looking out on a majestic view of mountains let's just say something to that effect so you can choose the duration let's say we want a 10-second duration or a 5-second duration let's just go for it right off the bat let's see what the 10c generation will give us so it says that the video is going to take a couple minutes while that's loading I just want to touch on this model and why I thought it was worth making a video on when Sora came out and we've seen this trend of where companies they'll announce this impressive thing they'll do a demonstration of it like Sora or even that voice interface that open AI demonstrated with gp40 but then you don't actually get to use it and it's going to several months until you can actually use it Sora was announced quite a while ago with GPD 40 it was announced a bit more recently but the great thing with this model is this is the first one that I was really impressed by as well as actually being able to use it personally and I probably speak for a lot of us where I really love it when companies just release the thing that you can use shortly thereafter and that was the case with Runway ml it wasn't that long ago when they announced it and then shortly thereafter we're able to already use it now mind you it is paid but hey that's better than nothing let's just see what we got here so again The Prompt was I want a camera that quickly spans from space and zooms into Earth towards the back of a programmer within a data center looking out on a majestic view of the mountain here's our generation here so zooming into the Earth we see some mountain ranges in the background there and then it's panning out and we see someone in a suit walking through what looks like a data center so the really interesting shot here it's definitely not what I would have expected but at the same time this is definitely something that I think is pretty impressive like I'm not unhappy with this type of result so I went ahead and I made a couple other Generations I had won a camera attached to a butterfly flying through a majestic field at a fast pace so not exactly what I would have expected from that prompt I saw a video I'm not even sure actually if it was from Runway where it was a camera attached to a bee flying through a field which I thought was a really cool example here you can see that it definitely is a highquality butterfly it definitely is a majestic field now whether it's flying through at a fast pace you can be the one to judge that now the other thing to note is if you do put in a prompt that is too long and in this case I think that was the issue with this prompt here you will get a generation error and then you will get the credits that you use for the prompt refunded so the prompt that failed was relatively long and it was also ambiguous some of the instructions that I gave it so there was that one now I did have a generation error if you get that message it does say that you will have your credits refunded back and it won't actually show you any video the next prompt was I want to quickly pan through the streets of Tokyo at night to a sign that reads in neon developers digest the sign should be purple and blue so let's just go through this so it's definitely a good scene of Tokyo at night we do see that it is a neon sign the sign is purple and blue but the big sticking point here as you can see it's not the words developers so we can see as it gets closer it's a bit more clear but it's devel and then vul pers and then dig rest so definitely not what I was expecting this isn't different than a lot of the image generation models that we do see a lot of the image generation models are notoriously not great with text and the only reason that I wanted to try this is I did see an example when this was first announced where did write the word runway in spray paint that it did really well it was actually quite impressive I just wanted to point it out in case you were going to try and generate something with text maybe it would do better with a shorter piece of text but if you are going to be trying to rely on something like this for generating text it's not quite there yet maybe in the Next Generation or a subsequent iteration of this model will it be able to generate text with a good consistency the next one was a fast-paced camera moving through a mountain down to a rural house with a programmer looking out the windows on a majestic view this one I was impressed with as well this wasn't exactly what I had in mind but at the same time just like that initial example I'm not unhappy with this generation I was thinking a fast panning moving camera but this just like that first example it pans in from the back and movees through an angle and then the individuals just appear there so similar sort of request and similar sort of result now just to show you the platform itself there is the area for the prompts you can configure your settings here there is also a fixed seed so if you want to get similar results to the prompt that you had there you can include the fixed seed you have the ability to remove the watermark as well if you'd like you can also set preset prompts here if I want to apply that Tokyo streets prompt you can just apply those to The Prompt it will append it there but you can also create custom presets as well you will default to have whatever you have within the prompt window here and then you can name it whatever you want maybe you just have some quick things like some particular camera angles or some cool effects that you find work well with Runway you can plug them in here and apply them as you see fit but overall the interface is really great I'm going to play around with this a little bit more but just to give you a little bit of an idea of what you can expect with this there are definitely some really amazing examples within the blog post here but if you're going to be leveraging this tool thinking you're going to walk away with all of these amazing examples within the blog post this would probably take you a number of months worth of credits on this tier to generate a number of different videos with this type of quality now if you are really careful with your prompts you might get lucky and be able to generate some good examples just like this but I think a lot of people will probably have a similar situation to me where okay your first several prompts you're getting used to it you might try it you might get some cool results of what you asked it to generate and then you might get some poor results I got some that I wasn't really happy with but it's definitely worth sharing with all of you just to give you a sense on what it can do now is it worth the $15 a month now I'll let you judge for that they have the blog post with all of the examples of these impressive videos that you had generated there maybe you have some ideas on some videos that you could generate as well creating good prompts for text is already hard as it is good prompts for video as well I could imagine that could be a job in itself there's definitely going to be some people that are going to be really good at generating these prompts and be able to create some examples like this huge kudos to the team at Runway phenomenal work for actually being able to ship something that we're all able to use but I'd definitely encourage you to check it out now one thing that I would note if I was to sign up for this again the thing that I would consider is really spend time with the prompt of what you want to generate and then as well as the number of credits let's say you have the tier that I have here and you're going to be able to get that thousand credits or subsequently those 600 credits a month that's really going to only be 6 to 12 Generations a month so you have to think about that so let's say it doesn't get all the generations right does it get it 50% of the time does it get it 70% of the time so you're within this small margin and you're only able to select between 5 and 10 seconds per generation but overall incred impressive stuff these are really cool models to be able to play around with I really look forward to seeing what else they come out with but if you found this video useful please like comment share and subscribe otherwise until the next one
