Next.js vs Remix
Next.js and Remix side by side: what each one is, verified plan pricing and install commands where we have them, and the full review of each.
Next.js
The React meta-framework. App Router, Server Components, Server Actions, file-based routing, and first-class deployment on Vercel.
Remix
Full-stack TypeScript web framework built on Web APIs. Remix 3 (stable October 2026) ships routing, middleware, its own component model, data, auth, sessions and asset compilation in one remix package, while the React-based Remix line continues as React Router framework mode.

In Depth
Next.js
Next.js is the React framework most teams reach for. The App Router brought React Server Components, streaming, and Server Actions to a stable production stack. Routing is file-based, data fetching happens on the server by default, and the bundler (Turbopack) is fast enough for big apps. Pairs natively with Vercel for deployment. The trade-offs are conceptual complexity around server vs client components and a tight coupling to React's evolving model.
Remix
Remix is the React framework that leans hard on web standards. Data loading and mutations use Request and Response objects, forms work without JavaScript, and nested routes ship with parallel data loading by default. In 2024 Remix merged its roadmap into React Router v7, so new apps adopt React Router framework mode and get the same model. Best fit for teams who want a framework that feels closer to the web platform than to React-internals abstractions.
