Shell Integration Unavailable. Cline may have trouble viewing the command's output. Please update VSCode (CMD/CTRL + Shift + P → "Update") and make sure you're using a supported shell: zsh, bash, fish, or PowerShell (CMD/CTRL + Shift + P → "Terminal: Select Default Profile").Cline runs commands through VS Code's Terminal Shell Integration API (added in VS Code 1.93). When shell integration is not active in the terminal, Cline cannot read the output of the commands it runs, so it cannot react to results on its own.Status: WorkaroundError executing command: The command ran successfully, but we couldn't capture its output. Please proceed accordingly. The terminal command finished, but Cline could not read its output from the VS Code terminal, so the model is told to proceed without seeing the result.Status: Fixed in releaseCommand failed with exit code 1: powershell (Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_OperatingSystem).caption 'powershell' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.Windows cannot find the PowerShell executable when Cline queries the OS. The extension links errors mentioning PowerShell to the official wiki troubleshooting guide.Status: WorkaroundUnexpected API Response: The language model did not provide any assistant messages. This may indicate an issue with the API or the model's output. The provider returned a response containing no assistant content, so Cline had nothing to act on.Status: WorkaroundInvalid API Response: The provider returned an empty or unparsable response. This is a provider-side issue where the model failed to generate valid output or returned tool calls that Cline cannot process. Retrying the request may help resolve this issue. The model stream ended with no usable output or with tool calls Cline could not parse. Cline classifies this as a provider-side failure.Status: OpenModel returned empty responseA turn finished without any visible model output (no text and no tool call), so Cline fails the turn.Status: OpenFunction call is missing a thought_signature in functionCall parts. This is required for tools to work correctly, and missing thought_signature may lead to degraded model performance.Gemini 3 models reject (HTTP 400 INVALID_ARGUMENT) function calls whose thought signatures were not preserved across multi-step tool execution.Status: Fixed in release429 {"type":"error","error":{"type":"rate_limit_error","message":"Number of request tokens has exceeded your per-minute rate limit (https://docs.anthropic.com/en/api/rate-limits); see the response headers for current usage. Please reduce the prompt length or the maximum tokens requested, or try again later. You may also contact sales at https://www.anthropic.com/contact-sales to discuss your options for a rate limit increase."}}The model provider rejected the request because your account exceeded its per-minute request or token rate limit. Cline forwards the provider's 429.Status: WorkaroundInvalid MCP settings format. Please ensure your settings follow the correct JSON format.Cline could not validate cline_mcp_settings.json against its MCP settings schema, so no servers load.Status: WorkaroundMcpError: MCP error -32001: Request timed outAn MCP server did not answer a request (tool listing, resource listing or a tool call) within the timeout, so Cline marks the request failed. Current versions phrase it as: MCP request to "<server>" timed out after <N>s. Increase the "timeout" field (in seconds) for this server in cline_mcp_settings.json.Status: WorkaroundThe model used search patterns that don't match anything in the file. Retrying...A replace_in_file edit failed because the SEARCH block the model produced did not exactly match the file content; Cline retries the edit.Status: OpenError writing file: Failed to open diff editorCline's file-writing tool could not open the VS Code diff view in time, so the edit failed. A maintainer identified it as triggering when the diff editor fails to open within 10 seconds.Status: Workaround[ERROR] You did not use a tool in your previous response! Please retry with a tool use.The model replied with plain text instead of one of Cline's tool calls, so Cline asks it to retry with a tool.Status: WorkaroundAPI Request Failed Ollama request timed out after 30 secondsOllama did not start responding before Cline's request timeout, so the request was aborted.Status: Fixed in releaseAPI Request Failed error: 400 Input tokens exceed the configured limit of 272000 tokens. Your messages resulted in 289650 tokens. Please reduce the length of the messages.GPT-5's input limit is 272K tokens; Cline sent more than that.Status: Fixed in releaseUnauthorized: Please sign in to Cline before trying again.Your Cline account session is missing or expired, so requests through the Cline provider are rejected.Status: Workaroundterminated: BodyTimeoutErrorThe HTTP response body from a local model server went silent long enough that the client aborted the stream.Status: Fixed in release
