Cursor error
Cursor: Timeout waiting for EverythingProvider
Timeout waiting for EverythingProviderStatus: WorkaroundLast verified 3 documented fixes3 sources
What it means
Shown in Cursor's network diagnostics when the extension host did not finish starting in time. Official docs state it has the same root cause as "Agent Execution Timed Out": the extension host did not start within 60 seconds.
Causes
- Extension host startup exceeded Cursor's 60 second startup timeout.
- On managed machines, endpoint security software that scans file I/O can add enough per-file latency to exceed the startup timeout.
How to fix it
- Fix 1.
Export logs (Developer: Export Logs..., select Main, Window, and Extension Host), check Output -> Extension Host, and send the zip plus a screenshot, OS and Cursor version to support.
YAMLDeveloper: Export Logs... - Fix 2.
Ask IT to add process and path exclusions for Cursor per the Endpoint Security Configuration page; a process-only exclusion may not be sufficient because some products use kernel-level minifilter drivers.
- Fix 3.
Run network diagnostics from Cursor Settings > Network > Run Diagnostics to re-check after changes.
