An open standard from the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) for attaching tamper-evident provenance records to images, video, audio, and documents. Each record is called a manifest, and "Content Credentials" is the consumer-facing name for it. A manifest bundles assertions about how an asset was made or edited, including whether AI generated it, binds them to the file with cryptographic hashes, and signs the claim with the signer's certificate. Unlike a watermark, a manifest is metadata that can be stripped, but any change to the signed content breaks verification.
