Gemini CLI error

Gemini CLI: Requested entity was not found

Error message
Requested entity was not found.

Status: WorkaroundLast verified 2 documented fixes2 sources

What it means

A 404 from the API when the selected model (here, Gemini 3 at launch) is not available to the account.

Causes

  • Maintainer (abhipatel12, #13284): at launch, Gemini 3 was only available to AI Ultra users (#13280).
  • Maintainer (galdawave, #13284): Gemini 3 was then rolled out to all paid individual tiers but not yet the free tier, with Business AI Ultra access still in progress.

How to fix it

  1. Fix 1.

Update to the latest stable version and retry, as maintainers asked in #13284.

    Terminal
    npm install -g @google/gemini-cli@latest
  2. Fix 2.

If your account tier lacks access to the model, use /model to pick an available model. Current releases show "It seems like you don't have access to <model>." for this case.

    Slash command
    /model
