Models

The /model command offers Auto (Gemini 3), which routes between Gemini 3 Pro and Gemini 3 Flash, Auto (Gemini 2.5), which routes between Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash, or a manual pick. Pass --model to choose at startup. The docs note Gemini CLI has not been optimized for Gemini 4 Argon and point to Antigravity for that model.

Recent changes

• Oct 13v0.64.0 adds atomic writes for file tools and atomic CLI state persistence with recovery from backup, bounds chat recording history in long sessions, and makes Ctrl+C aborts and @file:line references reliable.
• Oct 6v0.63.0 stable enables autonomous plan execution in non-interactive mode, bounds tool output and memory in long-running agent loops, and fixes infinite auth loops in headless environments.
• Sep 23v0.61.0 hardens against indirect prompt injection through build file changes and untrusted flags, and tightens filesystem boundaries.
• Jun 18Free, Google AI Pro, Ultra, and Google One access ends; those users move to Antigravity CLI.
