- Requires an active 1Password SaaS Manager subscription (no extra charge) and an admin-created API client using OAuth client credentials.
- The remote server is read-only, does not support DCR, and needs a bearer token that expires after about 1 hour and must be regenerated manually; EU tenants use https://mcp.1password.eu/trelica/mcp and trelica.eu.
- The local sm-mcp binary (macOS .pkg, Windows x64 and ARM64 zip) stores credentials in Keychain or Credential Manager and configures clients via 'sm-mcp install <client>' (claude, claude-code, cursor, vscode, codex, copilot, factory-droid, opencode); writes are off unless --enable-writes is passed.
