Notes and caveats
- Two server URLs are documented: clients created in the Canva Developer Portal use https://api.canva.com/connect/v1/mcp (recommended path, client ID + secret); clients approved through the waitlist (CIMD clients without a secret) use https://mcp.canva.com/mcp.
- DCR is deprecated in favor of CIMD but still available.
- End users connect through the Canva AI Connector in supported assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, Codex and others) rather than a config snippet; team admins can disable the connector.
- Free plan covers generation, editing, search, export, comments and uploads; resize, autofill, brand kits and brand templates need Canva Pro or above.
- Default cap of 300 requests per minute per user across clients; some AI actions consume Canva AI credits.
- Docs list about 45 tools; only 15 shown here.
