Media - official Mux server

Mux MCP server

Gives agents access to the Mux Video, Data and Robots platform through a Code Mode server with two tools: one searches Mux docs and one runs agent-written TypeScript against the full Mux SDK in a sandbox. Mux hosts it at https://mcp.mux.com, or you can run @mux/mcp (npm) locally with OAuth or API key auth.

Tools

search_docs
Queries documentation about Mux's API and SDKs.
execute
Runs agent-written TypeScript against the full Mux SDK (@mux/ts) and returns what the code returns or prints.

As documented on October 17, 2026. A running server reports its current list through tools/list.

Notes and caveats

  • Hosted server uses OAuth (log in to the Mux dashboard and pick an environment); clients without OAuth can send a Mux access token as Basic credentials in the Authorization header, or run the local server with MUX_TOKEN_ID and MUX_TOKEN_SECRET.
  • The Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code snippets are for the local stdio server.
  • The server does not treat destructive operations specially; use a Read-only access token to prevent changes.
  • Local install needs Node.js and Deno 2.9 or newer (bundled through an optional npm dependency, or set DENO_PATH); flags such as --code-allow-http-gets and --code-blocked-methods restrict SDK methods but are not a security boundary.
  • A Claude Desktop .mcpb bundle is published on mux-ts releases.
  • The official registry entry points at muxinc/mux-node-sdk, but current docs point at muxinc/mux-ts.
  • No explicit beta or GA label.
