Developer platforms - official Trigger.dev server

Trigger.dev MCP server

Local MCP server shipped in the Trigger.dev CLI that lets AI assistants search Trigger.dev docs, initialize projects, trigger and monitor task runs, deploy to environments and query run data with TRQL. It also exposes dev server, agent chat, session channel and webhook tools. It runs locally from trigger.dev (npm); the notes below cover how it authenticates.

Notes and caveats

  • Runs via npx trigger.dev@latest mcp; the interactive installer npx trigger.dev@latest install-mcp configures detected clients. search_docs, list_profiles, dev_server_status and stop_dev_server work without auth; all other tools need a Trigger.dev CLI login (the client prompts on first use).
  • Flags: --dev-only restricts to the dev environment and hides deploy/list_preview_branches; --readonly hides write tools such as deploy, trigger_task, cancel_run and replay_run; --project-ref scopes to one project.
  • Webhook tools depend on Webhooks, which is in private beta.
  • Codex config recommends startup_timeout_sec = 30.
