Notes and caveats
- Docs tables use short tool names; the core server prefixes them with coinbase_ (for example coinbase_portfolios_list).
- Clients are approved by allowlisting even with DCR/CIMD; documented supported harnesses include ChatGPT, Grok, Claude, Claude Code and Codex CLI.
- Coinbase recommends a separate, limited portfolio for the agent.
- Orders execute through Coinbase Advanced Trade (its fees and eligibility apply); US derivatives work only in the default portfolio. x402 payments are capped at 5 USDC per payment and settle irreversibly on Base.
- A local CLI (@coinbase/coinbase-cli, CDP API key) is offered as an alternative for unsupported harnesses.
