Docker MCP Gateway
Docker's open source MCP gateway, shipped as the docker mcp CLI plugin and used by the MCP Toolkit in Docker Desktop, which exposes a profile of containerized MCP servers to clients through a single MCP endpoint. It also offers dynamic tools that let an agent find and add catalog servers during a session. It runs locally from docker/mcp-gateway (docker-mcp CLI plugin binary) (github-releases); the notes below cover how it authenticates.

Notes and caveats
- This is an aggregating gateway rather than a single-product server: the tools a client sees depend on the servers in the selected profile, plus the dynamic management tools listed.
- MCP Toolkit is labelled Beta and must be enabled under Docker Desktop Beta features; the docs target Docker Desktop 4.62 and later.
- In Docker Desktop, clients are normally connected from the MCP Toolkit Clients tab.
- Credentials and OAuth are handled per server by Docker Desktop secrets management.
- MCP Gateway as part of Docker AI Governance is invite-only.
- Most recent release v0.44.1 (2026-09-23) is marked pre-release on GitHub.
