Notes and caveats

  • Requires Dropbox Dash; the help page says the remote server is 'available to all Dropbox Dash users' with no beta label.
  • Tools listed are for the remote server.
  • The local STDIO server (dropbox/mcp-server-dash, Python 3.10+, run from a git clone with uv, needs a Dropbox app APP_KEY) exposes a smaller tool set (dash_get_auth_url, dash_authenticate, dash_company_search, dash_get_file_details); Dropbox recommends the remote server as easier and more frequently updated.
  • The local server is not published to a package registry and the repo has no GitHub releases.
  • DCR is supported only for ChatGPT Codex, ChatGPT Web, Claude Code, Claude Web/Desktop and Cursor; other clients need a Dropbox app with account_info.read and dash/content scopes.
  • This is workplace search over a company's own connected content, not web search.
