Mapbox hosts it at https://mcp.mapbox.com/mcp, or you can run @mapbox/mcp-server (npm) locally with OAuth or API key auth.

Notes and caveats

  • Hosted endpoint uses an OAuth browser flow or a Mapbox access token as a Bearer header; local npm/Docker use requires MAPBOX_ACCESS_TOKEN.
  • API usage is billed against the Mapbox account per normal API pricing.
  • The docs page shows v0.12.0 while npm latest is 0.16.0 (published 2026-10-15).
  • Claude Desktop needs mcp-remote for the hosted endpoint. --enable-tools/--disable-tools flags filter tools locally.
