Steps

  1. Step 1.

Install Cursor from the official website.

  2. Step 2.

In Cursor, open the Models section and click Add Custom Model. Select the OpenAI Protocol.

  3. Step 3.

Set the OpenAI API Key to your Z.AI key, and in Override OpenAI Base URL replace the default with the Coding Plan endpoint.

  4. Step 4.

Enter the GLM model code in uppercase (Z.ai's example: GLM-5.2), save, and select the new GLM provider.

    Snippet
    GLM-5.2

Caveats

  • Z.ai warns the model name must be entered in uppercase in Cursor. Its Cursor page still shows GLM-5.2; GLM-5.3 is the current flagship per Z.ai's model docs, and its uppercase form here is inferred from that rule, not shown on the Cursor page.
  • Cursor's own docs were not checked; steps are from Z.ai's page only.
  • Coding Plan and Standard keys are separate since 2026-10-16.
