Claude Opus 4.7 was Anthropic's top Opus model when it shipped in April 2026, with a focus on staying coherent across long agent runs and a 1M token context window for whole-codebase reasoning. It is priced at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. Anthropic has since released Claude Opus 4.8 (May 28, 2026) and Claude Opus 5.5 (September 22, 2026), and as of October 2026 Opus 5.5 is the default model in Claude Code. Opus 4.7 remains active in the API, with retirement not sooner than April 16, 2027, so pin it only if your evals depend on its behavior.

Recent changes: Sep 22Anthropic releases Claude Opus 5.5 at $4/$20 per MTok. The Opus 4.7 model page now lists it as legacy and recommends migrating to Opus 5.5.
