CI/CD and testing - official BrowserStack server

BrowserStack MCP server

Connects AI agents to the BrowserStack testing platform to run manual and automated tests on real devices and browsers, debug failures, run accessibility scans, manage test cases and load tests, and use BrowserStack AI agents. Available as a hosted remote server (OAuth) or a local npm server (username and access key). BrowserStack hosts it at https://mcp.browserstack.com/mcp, or you can run @browserstack/mcp-server (npm) locally with OAuth or API key auth.

As documented on October 17, 2026. A running server reports its current list through tools/list.

Notes and caveats

  • Requires a BrowserStack account with an appropriate plan (free plan available for open-source projects).
  • The remote server uses OAuth and cannot do Local Testing (apps behind VPNs, firewalls or localhost); use the local npm server for that.
  • The local server needs Node.js 20.9 or later and BROWSERSTACK_USERNAME / BROWSERSTACK_ACCESS_KEY; file and app upload tools require MCP_UPLOAD_BASE_DIR.
  • The five core tools search and invoke a larger catalog of per-product capabilities (full list in docs/TOOLS.md).
  • The README says the server is under active development and supports a subset of the MCP spec; no explicit beta/GA label.
  • Generic snippet is the local server config documented for Claude Desktop and Cline.
