Notes and caveats
- Grafana Cloud only; self-hosted Grafana users should use the open source mcp-grafana server.
- Requires Grafana Assistant to be available on the stack with its terms accepted, and the Assistant Cloud MCP User role or grafana-assistant-app.cloud-mcp:access permission (Editor and above by default).
- Each MCP user counts as an active Grafana Assistant user for billing.
- SSE is not supported.
- The X-Grafana-URL header is optional; for multiple stacks use https://mcp.grafana.com/mcp/<your-stack>.grafana.net per entry.
- Claude Code quick install also documented as: claude mcp add grafana --transport http https://mcp.grafana.com/mcp.
- The docs page carries no preview or GA label, so status is left unknown.
- Tempo data source tools are proxied when present.
