Notes and caveats

  • Docs list production endpoints https://mcp.paypal.com/http (streamable HTTP) and https://mcp.paypal.com/sse (SSE), with sandbox equivalents on https://mcp.sandbox.paypal.com; the official MCP registry entry lists https://mcp.paypal.com/mcp instead of /http.
  • Remote auth is PayPal login (OAuth via mcp-remote) or a Bearer header built from Developer Dashboard client ID and secret.
  • Remote-only tools search_product, create_cart and checkout_cart currently cover gift cards only.
  • Local server requires Node.js 18+ and a PayPal access token; set PAYPAL_ENVIRONMENT to SANDBOX or PRODUCTION.
  • Docs examples target Claude Desktop; no client-specific snippets for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or VS Code.
  • Remote SSE sandbox snippet from docs: {"mcpServers":{"paypal-mcp-server":{"command":"npx","args":["mcp-remote","https://mcp.sandbox.paypal.com/sse"]}}}.
  • No beta or preview label on the vendor page.
