Notes and caveats

  • Endpoints: https://mcp.plane.so/http/mcp (OAuth, recommended), https://mcp.plane.so/http/api-key/mcp (personal access token via Authorization: Bearer plus x-workspace-slug headers), uvx plane-mcp-server stdio (env vars, Python 3.10+), and https://mcp.plane.so/sse (deprecated).
  • The hosted service cannot reach private self-hosted Plane instances; use stdio with PLANE_BASE_URL or self-host the server.
  • The OAuth transport needs Plane OAuth app registration, available on Plane Cloud and Commercial Edition only.
  • The old Node.js package @makeplane/plane-mcp-server is deprecated. v0.3.0 consolidated 177 per-operation tools into resource tools; 169 old names still resolve as hidden aliases.
  • Plan-gated actions return a message naming the feature.
  • Latest release v0.3.4 (GitHub 2026-10-08, PyPI 2026-10-09).
  • The vendor does not use a beta or GA label; ga reflects production hosted docs.
  • The official registry hint for this vendor (io.github.planetscale/mcp-server) belongs to PlanetScale, not Plane, and should be ignored.
