Hosted MCP server that lets AI apps create services, trigger deploys, query Render Postgres, and read logs and metrics in a Render workspace. Also available open source as a Docker image or Go binary for local stdio use. Render hosts it at https://mcp.render.com/mcp, or you can run ghcr.io/render-oss/render-mcp-server (docker) locally with OAuth or API key auth.

Notes and caveats

  • Render strongly recommends the hosted server over running locally.
  • Official Render plugins for Claude Code (/plugin install render@claude-plugins-official), Codex and Cursor (/add-plugin render) configure it with OAuth automatically; the claudeCode and cursor snippets above are the documented API-key variants, and the codex snippet is the OAuth variant.
  • Workspace must be selected before use.
  • Can only create web services, static sites, cron jobs, Postgres and Key Value; limited modification of existing resources (deploys and env vars); no scaling changes.
  • Web service response-time metrics require a Pro workspace or higher.
  • Render does not guarantee secrets will not reach the model context.
  • Latest GitHub release v0.3.0 shown as Jan 14 with no year, interpreted as 2026.
