Notes and caveats
- Docs label the MCP server Public preview.
- Stripe recommends setup via agent plugins (npm install -g @stripe/cli@latest then stripe agent setup).
- Auth is OAuth for interactive clients or an agent API key as a Bearer token; starting December 2026 (migrate by November 30, 2026) the server stops accepting full-access secret keys and restricted keys without the Agent tag.
- Certain stripe_api_write actions (refunds, outbound payments) require human confirmation via URL.
- Connected-account calls need an agent API key plus Stripe-Account header (no OAuth).
- Admins can disable MCP access per team.
- The stripe/agent-toolkit repo now redirects to stripe/ai, which points to the hosted server and has no tagged releases; no local package is documented.
