Notes and caveats
- Remote server (recommended by Upstash) has 55 tools; ?features= scopes them (redis, qstash_workflow, vector_search, box, blob).
- Remote auth is OAuth by default or a developer API key passed as Authorization: Bearer email:API_KEY.
- Read-only API keys and read-only OAuth grants disable state-changing tools.
- The local stdio server (npx -y @upstash/mcp-server@latest --email YOUR_EMAIL --api-key YOUR_API_KEY) covers only Redis, QStash, Workflow and Box and sends anonymous telemetry unless --disable-telemetry is passed.
- Upstash also ships a plugin (upstash/skills) for Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Codex that bundles the remote server.
- Docs give no beta/GA label.
