Databases - official Snowflake server
Snowflake-managed MCP server
A hosted MCP server object created inside a Snowflake account with CREATE MCP SERVER. It exposes Cortex Agents, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, SQL execution and custom UDF or stored procedure tools to MCP clients, with access governed by Snowflake RBAC. It is served from your own instance at https://<account_url>/api/v2/databases/{database}/schemas/{schema}/mcp-servers/{name} with OAuth auth.

CORTEX_AGENT_RUN- Tool type that exposes a Cortex Agent as an MCP tool.
CORTEX_SEARCH_SERVICE_QUERY- Tool type that exposes a Cortex Search Service.
CORTEX_ANALYST_MESSAGE- Tool type that exposes Cortex Analyst; generates SQL and returns the statement to the client.
SYSTEM_EXECUTE_SQL- Tool type for SQL execution without Cortex Agent orchestration.
GENERIC- Tool type for UDFs and stored procedures.
As documented on October 17, 2026. A running server reports its current list through tools/list.
Notes and caveats
- The listed tools are tool TYPES; actual tool names are defined per server in the CREATE MCP SERVER specification YAML (max 50 tools per server).
- GA announced 2025-11-04 (previously preview).
- Auth is Snowflake OAuth by default with optional External OAuth; docs also mention Programmatic Access Tokens but recommend OAuth.
- Supports MCP revision 2025-11-25 only; no resources, prompts, sampling or notifications.
- Tool responses truncated at 250 KB.
- Not replicated in failover groups.
- Available in government regions except Azure US Gov Virginia (non-FedRAMP High); no formal FedRAMP assessment yet.
- Claude.ai/Claude Desktop and ChatGPT are documented as custom-connector UI steps, not snippets.
- The older Snowflake-Labs/mcp repo (uvx snowflake-labs-mcp) is marked deprecated and points to this managed server.

Chroma MCP server
Self-hosted MCP server that lets agents create and manage Chroma collections and add, query, update and delete documents. It supports vector search, full-text search and metadata filtering against ephemeral, persistent, self-hosted HTTP or Chroma Cloud clients.
Transport: stdioAuth: Other - ClickHouseStatus: Beta
ClickHouse Cloud remote MCP server
A fully managed remote MCP endpoint for ClickHouse Cloud services that lets agents list databases and tables, run read-only SELECT queries, and inspect organizations, services, backups, ClickPipes and billing. All 13 tools are read-only.
Transport: Streamable HTTPAuth: OAuth or API key - ClickHouse
ClickHouse MCP server
Open-source MCP server from ClickHouse that lets AI assistants list databases and tables and run SQL against any ClickHouse instance, self-hosted or Cloud. It also has an optional chDB embedded engine. It runs locally over stdio by default, and can also serve Streamable HTTP.
Transport: stdio, Streamable HTTP, SSEAuth: Other - CockroachDBStatus: GA
CockroachDB Cloud MCP server
Managed MCP server built into CockroachDB Cloud that lets AI tools list clusters, explore live schemas and run SQL against clusters in a CockroachDB Cloud organization. Connections can cover every cluster the user or service account can access, or be scoped to one cluster with an mcp-cluster-id header.
Transport: Streamable HTTPAuth: OAuth or API key - Convex
Convex MCP server
Local MCP server built into the Convex CLI that lets agents inspect and act on a Convex deployment: list tables and schemas, page through data, run read-only one-off queries, call deployed functions, read logs and health insights, and manage environment variables.
